Drombeg Stone Circle near Glandore, southern Irish coast

My sister, Judy and I went in search of the Drombeg stone circle in southern Ireland. After navigating tiny winding roads, thorn hedges and hairpin curves, we were greeted by a brown horse, quietly grazing in the field next to the stone circle. This is the entrance to the stone circle, where there is a small replica of the much larger circle. My sister was hot, tired of driving and not yet convinced of the magical qualities of stone circles. She took one look at this small replica and said to me, "That's it? You got to be kidding." I pointed off into the distance where the larger stones were standing. She fell in love with the stone circle and its sacred pool. It was to become one of her favorites. The view from the circle was towards the southern ocean.

  1. Oh my...I won't ever forget this stone circle...I was really convinced that little tiny replica was what we drove and drove to see...afterwards I thought...someone sure has a sense of humor.
