We left Doolin fairly early and drove north to Galway and around the bay there. There we swung west to Clifden and had lunch..... the views are so incredible .... around each corner another breath taking site and another wild Irish driver, coming into our lane. My sister, Judy, is doing all the driving.... and doing a great job of it, too. We bought the extra car insurance before we left Wales and we are glad we did. People drive so fast and think nothing of driving into the opposing traffic. It has been terrifying at times but I have learned not to scream... I just hold my breath and when the car has managed to get back in their lane without hitting us, I take a deep breath. I have never seen driving like this.
The incredible landscape and meeting so many friendly people makes up for the Irish driving experience. Also I did not realize how far north Ireland is so it gets light very early and stay light until about 10PM. My sister and I are laughing our way through Ireland, and are even able to laugh about the driving (after the car goes by us). We stopped for the night in Westport, Mayo.
