Fuschia
As a gardener I was continually amazed and delighted by the fuschia growing everywhere. Here in the states, we buy fuschia in hanging baskets and it is an annual. Over the years I had read that in warmer climates fuschia grows to massive size... I never believed this... not sure why but I didn't. Imagine my surprise to find fuschia hedges and bushes everywhere in Ireland. They grow to incredible heights and are utilized as hedges that line the roads, front yards, etc and some have even escaped to grow wild out in fields. They are covered in the tiny red/purple flowers that look like miniature lanterns. I was continually delighted by these plants as they have always been a favorite of mine.
