Here is Eden at Caldra House in Carrick-on-Shannon
After several false tries we finally found Caldra house, which was located on the Shannon outside of Carrick. Eden came out to greet us although he was a bit shy and took awhile to make up to us. Annabelle, our hostess is a photographer. She gave us a beautiful 2nd floor room in her wonderfully appointed Georgian home and a great recommendation for dinner in a restaurant right down on the river. We had Irish-Thai fusion food which was incredibly yummy. As you might imagine, we ate our way through Ireland. In fact, the only not so great food we had was when we ordered chicken fajitas in Westport. What were we thinking....... a momentary lapse in judgement on our part. After breakfast at this B&B we took a walk in and through Caldra house gardens and surrounding lanes. It was so quiet and peaceful, yet another place where we could return and stay a few weeks. Each B&B host/hostess on our journey through Ireland, has taken such great care of us with maps, driving directions and suggestions. We have been told over and over again that the Irish love Americans and in our experience, Ireland is the Heart of the World. Always a smile, a laugh, a wave, a twinkle in the eye or help with directions was our reception in Ireland.
